DETAILS FOR THIS YEAR'S EVENT

Welcome to the 31st annual Canadian Pulp & Paper Curling Championship!! Lac La Biche is the site of this year's event. We are hoping that we can make it a fun and memorable time for all who participate. The challenge for us this year is to give you the kind of quality service and facilities that you have grown accustomed too, given our location and what we have to work with.

Lac La Biche is a welcoming community of approximately 3000 people. It provides superior accommodations for even the most scrutinizing traveler. The curling rink only has 4 sheets of ice but the quality is good and we are going to ensure that everything else about your visit and experience during this years spiel is 1st class. The following information will provide you with some details around how this years bonspiel may be different from other years events.

***IMPORTANT CHANGE***

The draw has been closed at 28 teams. Because of fewer teams, we will no longer be holding two draws on Wednesday evening!!! Curlers may be required to play later at night then they have previously been used too. This is to ensure that we can keep the same draw format that we have all grown accustomed too. All accommodations are within 5 minutes of the rink and we will have a shuttle bus transporting people wherever they want to go, in order to alleviate some of the time constraints.

The new 4 guard rule will apply and all games will be 8 ends, with one extra end deciding a tie. If the game is still up for grabs, Skip's rocks will be thrown to end the epic struggle! Championship games will follow the same format, except that all games will be 10 ends. Consolation round games will continue to be 8 ends.

"SHOOT TO THE PIN" FORMAT

This year's format will be a team event. Each member of your team will throw one rock. For each throw, one team member will be allowed to hold the broom and two team members will be allowed to sweep. Each rocks distance from the pin will be measured and your team's total distance will be summed up. The total combined distance will become your team's score. The team with the lowest score wins!

The "Shoot To The Pin" competition will be held on Wednesday evening starting at 7:00 p.m. The winning teams will be announced during the banquet on Friday night. Prizes will be given out for 1st to 5th place. Have fun and good luck!
